Hello, chat!
Like many of you, I find immense joy in the transformative journey of growing plants from seeds, especially anthuriums. It’s a process that not only brings a different kind of fulfillment but also serves as a beautiful reminder of the passage of time and the importance of stepping outside our comfort zone. I’m sure many of you can relate to this inspiring experience.
In this article, I will share how to import seeds to the United States legally. I have done it several times and have successfully grown anthuriums, a plant that I’m sure many of you also find joy in nurturing. It’s a shared experience that brings us all together.
Some reminders:
- Make sure to work with a reputable plant seller.
- Pay using methods that protect you from scammers; this includes PayPal Goods and Services.
- Seeds will not require phytosanitary document
- Remind your shipper to add your import sticker outside
Steps:
- Apply and complete your import permit via Aphis e-File and choose 587, the type of commodity: a small lot of seeds
- Once completed, download your permit and send a copy to your shipper
- Read your documents to be sure you are not importing illegal seeds
Once your package arrives in the plant station of your choice and everything looks great, it will be forwarded to you. You can either include a domestic shipping label inside your package or provide a shipping label. From my experience, USDA representatives will contact you.
This is a critical reminder to work with a reputable and trustworthy plant importer. Anyone can claim they are selling “x” seeds only to sell you “y” seeds. I am lucky to find reliable suppliers.
